Lead Full Stack Software Engineer

We are looking for a Lead / Staff Software Engineer to take technical ownership of complex products and help shape how we build software at DecimalTech. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role — you will still write code, review architecture and solve difficult technical problems while helping other engineers grow. You will work closely with product and engineering leadership to turn business requirements into reliable, scalable systems and establish strong engineering practices across the team.

Take technical ownership of major products, platforms and complex engineering initiatives.
Design and evolve scalable, secure and maintainable system architectures.
Remain hands-on with software development and contribute production-quality code.
Lead technical decisions across frontend, backend, APIs, databases and infrastructure where appropriate.
Break complex business requirements into practical technical solutions and implementation plans.
Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, architecture, security and reliability.
Conduct thoughtful code and architecture reviews.
Identify technical risks, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement before they become larger problems.
Work closely with product, design and engineering teams to prioritize and deliver high-impact initiatives.
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, reviews and problem-solving.
Help engineers make sound technical decisions without unnecessarily slowing delivery.
Investigate and resolve difficult production, performance and reliability issues.
Improve development workflows, CI/CD, observability and engineering productivity.
Lead technical planning and estimation for complex projects.
Document important architectural decisions and establish clear technical direction.
Represent engineering in product and business discussions when technical trade-offs are involved.

Software architecture; production software development; system design; API development; databases; Git; modern software engineering practices; debugging and performance optimization; automated testing; cloud or production deployment experience; strong experience with at least one modern programming language and technology stack.

10 years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated technical leadership or ownership of complex engineering initiatives.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional engineering experience will be considered.

Experience building and operating production software products, SaaS platforms, web applications, APIs, enterprise systems or other scalable technology products.

Must be based in Nepal and legally authorized to work in Nepal. Remote work from within Nepal.

10 + years of professional software engineering experience
5 + years of experience with AWS.
Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript
Strong experience with React and modern frontend architecture
AWS production experience — Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge
Infrastructure as Code experience — SST, CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi
Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers
Experience designing and operating scalable production systems
